Marco Island is a drop-dead gorgeous place to live, work, or vacation. Situated on the pretty Gulf of Mexico on the southwestern coast of Florida, it is the biggest of the Sunshine State’s famous Ten Thousand Islands.
Part of a chain of hundreds, not thousands, of islands and tiny mangroves, Marco Island is really only barely 24 square miles, making it an exclusive place to live. There are beach front homes or condos facing one of the many canals that give boaters convenient waterway access to their home. Marco Island real estate is available in all price ranges, from the $60,000 ranges for a smaller condo to well over $28 million for one of its more exclusive luxury estates.
As one might expect, you can easily find a wide variety of things to do on Marco Island, including world class restaurants, outdoor cafes, and family restaurants. Many restaurants are situated in view of Marco’s coastal scenery, allowing patrons to see tropical birds like flamingos in their habitat while enjoying good food.
