Last February my spouse and i took a holiday to Florida. We spent 3 weeks there and in that time we attempted to go to as many locations as we could. One of the initial locations that we went to was Fort Myers Beach. We just had 1 day there but it was enough to make us want to return and rent a Fort Myers Beach condo.
Our trip to Fort Myers Beach started off at the beach of course. I recommend getting to the beach early so you can find easy car parking. We lucked out because when we got to the parking area a group of people were departing and they hadn’t used all of the time on the parking pass so they gave it to us to use. That right there put both of us in a very good mood because it was simply a nice random thing for them to do. We walked to the beach and the first thing that I noticed was just how fine the sand is. It practically didn’t feel like sand at all. It is soft and powdery and extremely white. There were lots of people on the beach that day despite the fact that for me it wasn’t the warmest day to be swimming. Granted it was like 70 some degrees outside but I want it to be in the 80’s if I am going to get wet.
When we were done at the beach we got back in the car to find a good place for dinner. There is just one main road to and from Ft Myers Beach and everything is more or less on that road so it is almost impossible to get lost and that makes it easy to find restaurants, also all of the Fort Myers Beach accommodations are close to everything. The place we selected was called The Beached Whale. Now to tell the truth it looks like a dive bar but a great deal bigger. They’ve got a wonderful deck on the 2nd floor that’s ideal for enjoying the sunset however it fills up really fast so if you would like to sit up there I would advise going early so you can get a spot. It is well worth it though. I would say the only thing greater than the view was the amazing food. They had a great appetizer menu so we ordered off of that so we could try a number of various things. My all-time favorite were the steamed mussels that came in this broth that was so good it was difficult to not just drink it. The staff were really nice and even though they were absolutely slammed the service was still quick. I’ll certainly return there.
I can’t wait to revisit Fort Myers Beach and stay in a Fort Myers condo there and then we can have more time to experience the place. I had an excellent day there so I know when my partner and I go back and have much more time it will be a great vacation.
