One of the best, and most beautiful golf courses in the world is located in Sharm el Sheikh, attracting golf lovers annually to this desert heaven to tee off in style.
Sharm el Sheikh’s lone golf course is approximately 10 minutes from Naama Bay and the International airport. It is located on the grounds of Jolie Ville Golf Resort. The Par 72 PGA Championship golf course is one of the best in the world. It started functioning in 1997 and was designed by the American architectural firm Sanford and Associates. The course is breathtakingly beautiful. It has no fewer than 18 man-made lakes, Bermuda grass, exotic birds, of which some birds feature on the list of endangered species. More than a thousand trees are planted around the course, including Washington palm trees date palms, Hong Kong orchids, Flames of the Forest and California fan palms- giving a magical feel to the course; an absolute delight!
There are 4 sets of tees you can choose from on the course, and a practice centre, the celebrated Jolie Ville International Golf Academy, where you can learn the latest techniques to golf or brush your existing style. Various programs using advanced methods in a relaxed atmosphere are available, for golfers all experienced and novice to club their balls. The instructors are happy to pass on their knowledge and skill of the game so you can be a more composed player.
The large tiff-dwarf (grassed greens) is the best feature of the golf course. This grass is the favourite of the P.G.A Tour, with each grass being identical in cut and speed to the other, giving a perfect and constant speed each time. The lakes on the course are inter-disbursed so that golf’s truest test, ‘risk or reward’ factor is used. The cool waters shimmer in the lovely breeze that blow gently all the time – an experience that cannot be done justice to with words alone.
The 19th Hole Restaurant & Bar in the lovely Club House is the central meeting point of the Jolie Ville resort. It also offers a wide range of food and beverages in an elegant lounge amidst pleasant settings and a great ambiance.
The golf course is very centrally located, easily accessible from all points of the city itself.It is in Sharm el Sheikh’s Marikha Bay, mid-way between the lively centre of Naama Bay and the airport, a 10 minute drive from the airport and the bay. The course is within the grounds of the resort 5 Jolie Ville Golf Resort, but people staying in other hotels can also avail its use.
