His passion in learning has rewarded with another scholarship and he then continued his study in Sophia University in Tokyo, Japan, majoring in International Business. After that, he came back to USA to pursue his MBA at Indiana University, studying Operations Systems.
After graduated from his MBA, he worked at Citibank Indonesia for three years (1983–1986) as Head of Sales. In 1989, he continued his career at Aspac Bank as Vice President of Marketing & Organization Development for four years. Leaving his Vice President job at Aspac Bank, Mario Teguh has become the CEO and Senior Business Effectiveness Consultant at Exnal Corp Jakarta. In 2003, he received Indonesian Record Museum award as the organizer of a prize-car seminar in Indonesia. Three years later, he wrote two books.
