IRS Electronic Filing

The new age of computers and the Internet have brought new meaning to filing your tax return. When preparing your taxes in previous years, it was a difficult, long-drawn-out process that really had no guarantees you hadn’t made any mistakes. It was very stressful for most taxpayers. Now we have IRS electronic tax filing.

Some would pay a rather large amount of money to have someone file their tax return for them; it was much simpler, less time-consuming and you had some peace that your return was accurate. This choice was, of course, pretty expensive. So when the IRS made it possible to file your tax return electronically over the internet, it made tax season almost a piece of cake.

IRS Tax Filing Electronically

First you must choose an online service to help you enter and prepare your return. Most services have prompts to ask you all the necessary information and then they convert the information into the necessary tax forms that you would be required to file per your individual tax situation. WOW, that seems much simpler, doesn’t it? By the way, this type of service, in most cases, is very affordable, even free to some.

Once you have completed your return through the service and have selected to e-file (electronically file) your IRS tax return, which is a click of a button, the IRS will then send you a confirmation through your email account that they have received your federal tax return. This process is the fastest available; in most cases, taxpayers can begin to receive their refund in as little as 8-10 days. If you choose to have your refund direct deposited or if you would rather have your refund made via paper check, you still could have your refund within a couple weeks. Isn’t that amazing? It’s much faster than mailing in your returns and hoping they made it to the IRS and then wondering how long it will take to have them processed.

Once you have e-filed your return, the IRS has a link available to check the status of your return within 72 hours of being filed.
