Internet marketing: selling a fresh site with directory listings
Webmasters often ask if paid directory submissions worth the amount of money? Obviously the clear answer depends on the index and the cash.
There are a few things you can get from a directory: link popularity and traffic. I do not know of much traffic that is really delivered by any directories. Much traffic was not even got me by listings in Dmoz, and the Yahoo directory. Obtaining a few sessions per year for twenty years isn’t so bad, however if you are buying a permanent record. There is little doubt this is targeted visitors.
Then you definitely want backlinks or link popularity. That depends upon the class and the directory where your list is going to be put. The structure of the listing classes will determine if your site will get yourself a top-level listing (one or two clicks away from the homepage) or a serious listing (3 or more clicks removed from the homepage). Then this will depend on the amount of links on that site. Many paid introduction directories are trying to sell everypage links, but these are a serious link acceptance strain.
So the two main issues with web sites are where your record will undoubtedly be placed and how much link recognition gets handed down to your internet site. My solution is to submit to 300 free non-reciprocal directories (with new websites I do 100 submissions a week for three days) and pick several paid directories that can place my new site in a top-level group or on a page that has only a few links.
A current example unveiled that these 300 free directory articles, along with one listing in a top-level sounding jtrotta.com web directory and one website link from the associated site created, in only over a month, over 130 backlinks (according to Yahoo) and generated my site being completely indexed by Google. Search engine traffic has been good, due to high rankings in Google and MSN search results. All of this would cost the common webmaster 30.00 for the 300 listing submissions, 69.90 for the top-level jtrotta.com record, and 45.00/month for the homepage link. The very best part is that it needed so little of my time.
