Inexpensive Airline. Low support level?
Low cost air companies are now common place within our culture and because there release, visiting foreign countries is now possible for the people.
Easy Jet are considered to be the founders of low cost airline travel, starting there procedures from London Luton Airport. Through the years, Easy Jet is continuing to grow and now flies to numerous Countries in europe. More and more air companies jumped on the bandwagon, as Easy Jet became. Ryan Air, BMI Baby and FlyBe to name a few.
Not so long ago, I’d cause to visit from the UK to France on an everyday basis. As there have been low priced airlines functioning from my local airport, East Midlands, I flew with BMI Baby and decided to sample a flight. In those days, BMI Baby, the low price supply of BMI (British Midland International), were flying to Paris CDG. It was really a convenient service and took about 1 hour. The flight I would regularly simply take, left the UK at 16:00 and would get to Paris at 18:00 local time. I can’t quite remember exactly how many journeys I created using BMI Baby, but I would risk a at about 12 – 15 times.
The prices were provided at absurd prices, when BMI Baby released there low priced operation from East Midlands. Ridiculous to the stage they were giving seats for nothing! Unfortunately there is the matter of tax, so the journey was not actually free. Never-the less, a return journey from the UK to France often price somewhere in the area of approximately 50 – 60, including tax. Looks incredible how they might make anything from their routes!
Although the costs were low, I thought the support levels were very high. My experience flying with BMI Baby was often great. The staff were very respectful, as a frills flight although the flight is labeled and food and drink were always readily available for the short flights. The punctuality was excellent also!
BMI Baby stopped running the trip from East Midlands to Paris and was replaced by there parent company BMI. In my own experience, when BMI Baby stopped traveling and paid the baton to BMI, which in effect is the same organization, the prices jumped. It was very disappointing as I had always enjoyed flying together to lose the service and found the prices easy on the pocket. I’ve since discovered alternative ways to travel from the UK to France, but if BMI Baby decide to come back, I will be tempted to come back too!
For people considering moving to another place being an expat, or simply taking a look at purchasing a holiday house abroad, there is no doubt that the reduced cost air companies have opened the door to another world. Yet another world that has been not possible not such a long time ago. Low cost airlines, low service levels? Not in my experience.
Bon voyage!
