There’s no question that people in The Us love dogs. One look at popular culture inside our country may prove beyond a shadow of any doubt that Americans have a love affair with dogs. TV shows and movies about dogs go in and out of popularity and stories like Old Yeller and Where in fact the Red Fern Grows are believed timeless classics. Only in The Usa, but, do dogs have the ability to achieve celebrity status.

Rin Tin Tin

Rin Tin Tin was Hollywoods first recognizable canine star. The German Shepherd was featured in 26 movies for Warner Brothers Images and is usually credited with having saved the studio from bankruptcy during the silent film era. The original Rin Tin Tin died in 1932 at the age of 13, but his bloodline and his fan club exist even today.

Lassie

Ask anyone to name a popular dog and you will probably get the name Lassie each time. The star of many movies, a few television series, and the main topic of countless books, Lassie is probably the most recognizable canine star in American TV and movie history. Interestingly, all the dogs to express Lassie over time have already been male. The original collie to express Lassie was really named Lad and was the star of the memorable original television series in addition to several shows, most memorably the original version of Lassie Come Home.

Benji

In the 1970s a filmmaker named Joe Camp started pitching your pet dog movie around Hollywood. He was told again and again that the film would not work, therefore he chose to develop the film separately. When the film wrapped Camp had new issues since the film would be released by no distribution company. Again, Camp relied upon himself to distribute his family film global. Camps gamble repaid and Benji, starring a cute mixed breed dog that was used from an animal shelter (the initial Benji was the dog Higgins who had done it display Petticoat Junction) became a huge hit. Over the years there were five Benji movies, television programs and packages, comics, and a lot of Benji merchandise.
