Flying Ant Infestations in Whitefield, Prestwich and Swinton.

Ants in the house can be the dread of countless households in summer leaving a lot of people to dread the summer months together with the annual flying ant intrusion.
Only the unlucky people who have suffered it will be aware of the true nature of flying ants inside their homes.
Getting an infestation of ordinary wingless ants is detrimental enough however when they go through their yearly mating phase the situation may become dreadul.
Ants often form colonies below the floors also in the wall cavities in our homes and these colonies will survive for quite some time if not dealt with becoming significantly more troublesome each year.
Our houses are warm and dry and supply the ideal places for a thriving ant colony; even solid asphalt floor isn’t really a deterent to an ant.
Our central heating systems raises their metabolism even in the depths of winter and my earliest ant job was on my birthday, in January!
Ants and flying ants like a sandy soil and there are many areas in Lancashire, Cheshire and Manchester which often provide more ant problems than most, Southport, Blackpool, Bolton, Sale & Altrincham come to mind as regular ant properties.
Unfortunately during their mating phase that they will be most annoying. Within Lancashire, Cheshire and Manchester this often is pretty often around the third or fourth week in July.
Ants mate on the wing and sometime around mid-summer the colony produces winged immature Queens and winged males which in the wild would fly off and mate in the air. Many thousands of these winged ants are released from each and nests often synchronise their release so that they mate with ants from other nearby nests.
Normally the process starts after a couple of days of hot, dry weather and will typically last for about a week or so although smaller releases will carry on throughout most of June, July & August.
Unfortunately when the nest is located under the floor of the home the consequences can be devastating, thousands of winged ants are produced into the lower rooms, gathering on windows as they make for the light.
This may be unbelievably upsetting for some people leading to severe emotional upset to the extent that individuals learn to loath the summertime and have actually sold their homes to escape the plague of ants which they know will come each summer.
The colder summers of 2008, 2009 & 2010 have meant that ant jobs were down on the preceding but ants appear to have a method of making up ground and 2011 looks set to be a particularly problematic year.
Most people who have this problem attempt for DIY solutions with powders from hardware shops etc but mostly these efforts do not work as they are not getting to the heart of the problem which is the colony itself, tucked safely in the cavity wall or sub-floor area.
Luckily for many people the solution is at hand.
At Harrier Pest Control (subject to site survey) we can easily cure this issue and issue an extendable three year guarantee.
The process which is carried out mainly from the outside of the property, is perfectly safe for pets and children and produces no smell, involves positioning small holes in the cavity walls of the house, not dissimilar to a damp-course injection and blowing an insecticidal powder inside the cavity wall under pressure.
This forms an impenetrable barrier through that the ants cannot cross and in addition to a precautionary internal spray treatment (if regarded necessary) will slowly and gradually bring the infestation under control.
The holes, which are only 8mm across remain open therefore it is a simply matter of topping up the cavity walls every 36 months to extend the effectiveness of the guarantee in three year terms.
This procedure is best done out in early spring however it may be done anytime of year.
As a a very special deal before our chaotic time period begins we are offering 25% off the standard cost until May 30 2010. Whilst we normally cover the whole of Lancashire, Cheshire and Greater Manchester, we could travel further afield but this will be reflected in the cost.
