Individuals Do Business With People They Know, Like, And Trust

One of the most significant activities in growing a company is growing relationships. Many individuals think they could go out to network activities, hand their cards out and the business should come flowing in. It could happen like this, but not likely. It will take time, energy and work to construct a network. Through building that network you develop relationships with individuals who know you, trust you and can do business with you.

I was at a networking event where I noticed two men that had no clue what networking was all about. The very first lady introduced himself, walked up-to me, asked my name and proceeded to inform me what he did and how it might help me. He then left to talk to someone else and a gentleman came up, launched himself, did not bother to get my name, gave me promotional details about what he was attempting to sell and then went off to talk to someone else. Neither of these men would remember me if I called them, and I’ve no idea if they are people I like or trust, so there is not a chance I will do business with them. Networking similar to this is just a waste of time. Unless you are prepared to become familiar with the people, build your system, and perhaps observe how you can help them, you might as well stay home.

Networking is not just for those who run their own organizations. Most of us have a community of people we rely on. When seeking employment we might use their ser-vices, get recommendations from their store and ask for help. I call this cross-pollinating, and all of us take action. It is very important that we develop relationships with all the people in our community so that we can buy good guidelines and advice. If you neglect your community you might get without resources o-r references when you most need them.

Communities are essential for your success. To truly have a helpful network you must foster and develop the relationships and concentrate on how you will help your network before you consider taking from it. Zig Ziggler suggests that the simplest way to build your organization will be to help somebody else build hers. Givers get. You don’t just take from your network; you also share with it. The key is the more you give to your community the more you will reunite.
