Tricky Parenting Moments – Don’t Do As I Do, Do As I Say, Are You Serious?

Parenting can be everything from hilarious to ridiculously funny. Frustration and anger are already a given so there’s no need to mention them. However, when it comes to kids it’s absolutely true and that’s because they can be completely truthful even without realizing it. That is one of the beauties of raising children and being around them.

Often there are important lessons for us as parents to understand. Sometimes we need our children to keep us straight and honest, and it can be highly irritating but cute as well.

None of us can forget our last year of high school because we could finally see just a taste of freedom. Then it seemed like our last year with our friends was gone before we knew it. So, you know what they are up against and what they are feeling. These are the times when you give them support, listen to them and basically be helpful. Encouragement will always be welcomed, no matter how many times you have to offer it. Just monitor how well your child deals with everything when it comes to high school ending and their leaving the nest. Then continue to draw upon those parenting skills that have managed to keep you afloat for this amount of time. We know that you will handle everything okay.

We have already mentioned that most people, children included, tend to cooperate better and be more accepting if they know what’s going on. That process involves having a degree of openness and willingness to communicate your reasons why for a particular situation or decision.

Children are generally quite reasonable and will be quite understanding when it comes to helping you. You might see the importance of this approach after thinking of all possible scenarios, which might allow you to see the value in this approach.

It is important for teenagers to get summer jobs for the positive experience as well as the critical lessons to be learned from this exercise, which has been discussed in other articles. They need to learn how to properly manage money as well as understanding that it’s their responsibility. Sit down with your teenager and explain everything to him or her in a positive way. You have to really listen to them and ask them how they feel about saving money. This is a great chance for them to make some of their own decisions regarding money and then letting them deal with the consequences. They need to learn the consequences of their decisions so don’t give them any money if they spend it all in one day.

We feel you will find your parenting tasks and responsibilities much easier if you are able to have positive communications with your children. Of course this assumes they are old enough to understand.
