Popular Food Trends At UK-Based Conference Venues

A crucial aspect at any conference or training event is the food . Get it right and people will talk about it for months, but if you get it wrong it could be disastrous. In our opinion every   UK-based conference venue must take note of the following five food trends:

Gluten Free Diets – This is one of the most widespread, yet under-estimated food allergies, with one in every hundred people affected in the UK. Therefore, allergy-friendly and gluten-free menu options will most certainly impress and relieve those guests that worry about what to eat when attending conferences.

Lighter Lunches – Light lunch options as opposed to three course buffets are becoming increasingly popular at conferences and events. Salads, continental buffets, sushi platters and Japanese styled bento boxes are fashionable choices at some of the most sought after training and conference venues.

Brain Food – It is often quite difficult paying attention during long, intensive conferences and training events. It is not only natural light that helps with concentration, but also healthy snacks, such as fresh fruit platters, berries, seeds and nuts during break-times.

Creative Vegetarian Dishes – One of the most frustrating things for vegetarians are the lack of choice on menus – it is suprising just how often a menu with as many as four or five options only includes one vegetarian option.   Venues should be reminded that macaroni cheese and grilled portabello mushrooms get very boring after a while. Be creative and offer a choice of at least two innovative, fresh and exciting vegetarian dishes.

Greater Variety – Dining out is no longer a novelty when you stay at conference venues for two, three or sometimes four nights at a time. You not only have little choice over the menu, rural locations could mean there is nowhere else in the area to turn to in need of something different. Many experienced venues offer different dining options to choose from, for example French, Japanese or English menus in the dining room with a snack menu available in the lounge.
