Do you like a classic music that makes you weep? Or do you like hard-rock music? Or do you like music that makes you feel like dancing on the floor following the rhythm?indoIf you’re really a fan of that kind of music, then you must be looking for Indian music and a more traditional taste of Indonesia, named dangdut music. However, before the Indian Bollywood fever restrikes the television industry in Indonesia, actually dangdut fever already hit all television channels in Indonesia for a long time. Dangdut is a very popular music genre in Indonesia due to the melodious instrumentation and vocals. Because the popularity of dangdut, some movies and TV show have dangdut-centered themes, for instance Rhoma Irama’s movies and Rudy Soedjarwo’s Mendadak Dangdut.

Although many television stations adopted dangdut and infused it into their programs, not all TV programs could be considered successful in stealing attention of the viewers. Most of the programs were only lasted for a few months because they were not able to achieve acceptable rating and share of television viewers. But this particular Indosiar program is not one of them, named D’T3rong Show. When they saw that dangdut was able to steal the attention of a lot of people at that time, Indosiar immediately held a dangdut talent show named D’Academy. It started its first broadcast on 3 February 2014, after conducting audition in 11 big cities in Indonesia (Medan, Makassar, Surabaya, Bandung, Jakarta, Cirebon, Solo, Purwokerto, Tasikmalaya, Serang, and Bogor). There were 35 contestants in total who pass the auditions. From the 35 contestants, 14 of them were selected from nomination concert stage, after dividing them into 7 groups and selecting 2 top contestants in each group. Not only that, the jury also has veto right that can be used to choose other 5 contestants to perform in the final, making 25 contestants compete with each other in the final.

In the last stage, one contestant would be eliminated in each episode. This long process finally made LestiAndryani, a 15 year old singer from Bandung, as the winner. Since then, she made one single and made appearances in some short films and dramas. It was able to overcome the rating of some other favorite TV programs. It received some critics however. But in doing this, they sacrificed the contestants. However, when D’Academy has ended, Indosiar could not just let go of its success easily. This strategy was again a success, with D’T3rong Show managed to extend the success of D’Academy and exists to this day. D’T3rong Show is an Indosiar’s trump card that is designed as a variety show filled with quizzes, talent search, dangdut, and sketch comedy in each of its episodes. The program is divided into 5 segments, namely DapurTerong, Duet Idola, TerongInspirasi, AksiQosidah, and ProfesiUnik. But,D’T3rong Show makes it clear that they want to stay focus in dangdut.

The success of this program is clearly supported by their performance, character, and their comedy materials. They often wear matching costumes based on the theme of the particular episode of the show. Not only its three hosts, the jury who are invited in the show are always able to match the hosts and blend well with them to make the show more interesting to watch. If you see the rundown of the show, actually there is nothing too special about this program. Even the President of Director admitted that the show is actually inspired by Yuk Keep Smile show. In addition, Rina Nose’s charm, character, and her fresh comedy skills really help this program to show its uniqueness among some other similar programs on TV.

D’T3rong Show premiered on 15 March 2014 and become the favorite program on Indosiar every Saturday until Wednesday at 6:00 pm (see: jadwal indosiar). These consecutive programs are crucial for them since they show everyone that Indosiar is still alive and able to compete with the popular programs on other television stations. Now it’s the time for Indosiar to really think of clean and innovative breakthrough ideas that could make them survive in competition with other television channels.
