Just Got Back From Actually Purchasing A Classic Mustang
Well, I haven’t so much been able to write on the site nearly as often as I would’ve liked, on account of all the time I have been roped into helping my pops manage his incredibly wacky midlife crisis. Okay, I guess it isn’t as far gone as it could possibly be. Basically what he did was to go and dress himself up like he was Fonzie or something, and come on over to my apartment and proclaim to me, in his “coolest” possible vocal tone: “Get ready, son, we’re out looking for some classic Mustangs for sale. You heard that right, brother, I’m totally set to get one of my own.”
Before I knew what was happening we were off to a couple of those weird classic car sales lots that I’m always mostly sure are owned by the mob, and I see the crazy old guy cut a check on the spot, for a very shiny classic mustang. It really is one hell of a piece of machinery. It sounded amazing as well.
Notice that I said that last sentence in the past tense. It sounded great right up to the point that it totally broke down. The old man tells me that it’s a pretty easy thing to fix and that all he requires is the right part. Only thing is, it’s not as straightforward to come across 1966 Mustang parts as it was like three decades years ago, but he swears there is a pretty sizable aftermarket for them in spite of their age. From what I’m told the nicest way to buy parts for 1969 Mustangs is by way of online auctions, since you can get them rebuilt and occasionally better than new. They’re not necessarily that inexpensive, however… Think about it, they are ancient automobile parts.
I guess it could’ve been worse… He might’ve bought a harley.
