Professional Proofreading – How Important Is It?

July 24, 2013 sarah Uncategorized

Writing can be a daunting task, and reviewing one’s own articles can be equally difficult. When writing an article, the writer needs to appear to be an expert to their particular audience. No one expects the writer to be the intellectual equal of a novelist, but it is important that the writer state their point in a clear and concise manner, as this increases the chance the writer will gain and keep their readers attention.

For some people professional writing is a natural born talent but for most of us it is achievable by hard work and hours of practice. The term ‘Grammar’ is related to the set of rules governing the use of a given natural language.

We should all write English correctly and accurately. Often, if writers use poor grammar, their writing becomes almost impossible to read and can be to such an extent, that their writing becomes incoherent.

At a minimum, the article should be interesting to the intended audience. It would be even more desirable if the article were interesting to a broader audience. Not every article will be accessible to every reader, but it would be wonderful if the article could be accessible to as broad an audience as possible.

Some specific ways you can make the article more interesting to the reader include:

1. Identify whether the idea presented is novel or provides a new perspective on the topic.

2. State whether the topic of the item being reviewed is applicable to real-world situations.

3. Put the item in context and compare it with other items in the field.

4. Provide concrete examples of where the item succeeds or fails.

There is nothing worse for a reader than after searching for a site on a topic such as ‘Education’, the reader finds errors in grammar, spelling, and clarity of content. Most readers will simply go to another site leaving your site in the dust.

It is important to review your article, correcting typographical and grammatical errors as you go. You will also want to make sure your article flows in a clear, cohesive manner. Sometimes it may be necessary to rewrite the article completely, since this could be crucial in correcting conceptual errors. One site you may want to research is: www.exampleessays.com/viewpaper

It would be an excellent idea to have an objective reviewer determine whether the paper should be published as is, or published if modified. If an objective reviewer is not available, you will do well to proofread your article several times to make sure you are getting your point across to the reader in a fluent manner.
