If the skin tags to be removed are relatively large, using anesthesia would be advisable since it would be safer to do so. Parts of the body with a large concentration of skin tags should be topically applied with anesthesia in the form of creams. Doctors with skin specialization, family physicians and internal medicine physicians treat skin tags most often. If you have a skin tag that is very close to your eyes, or right on your eyelid, an eye doctor would have to be consulted.

Skin tags can also be removed by some home remedies and self treatments. Tying off the skin tag with a piece of thread or even dental floss can effectively dry out the skin tag until it falls off by itself. Of course, there is the tried-and-tested way of cutting off the skin tags with a pair of scissors. This kind of scissor or minor surgical procedure in the removal of skin tags causes minor bleeding. It would take time before the skin would return to its natural hue if you use freezing or cauterization to remove the skin tags.
