Facelift – Your Surgeon Explains Your Options and Manages Your Expectations

September 23, 2012 robot Beauty

I decided to have a facelift because I was starting to look like my grandmother, and I was too young for that. Losing weight had left me with creases and saggy jowls. Putting the weight back on didn’t really appeal to me!

Obviously this decision was an emotional one. But I could see why my surgeon was so extremely recommended. He was very good at helping me to understand what I could expect from the facelift in Palatine.

All of us age, but if cosmetic surgery can help us age a little more gracefully, I say why not?

Options for your Facelift

Some patients combine a facelift with eyelid surgery or with getting their nose rebuilt. There can be good reasons to do this, depending on individual risk factors and feelings about personal appearance. I wanted to figure out these factors, though, and come to the right decision for me. It was very nice how the doctor asked what I wanted and went over my expectations with me.

For instance, I wanted to get rid of all the creases around my mouth. I ended up getting rid of them, but not through the facelift. Non-surgical injections turn out to be a much better answer for these, as well as for laugh lines from nose to the mouth.

But the facelift did a wonderful job of getting rid of the wrinkles in my neck. And it will be a few more years before I can compete in any Richard Nixon look-alike contests now, thank goodness.

Ask Questions

That surgery made me look better, and made me look at life better also. I just wanted to make sure the surgery would do what I thought. I’m glad I asked for and listened to my doctor’s opinion. He came so highly recommended, I thought for certain he had done the surgery many times and was always successful. So I put that experience to work for me!

I also asked what I could do before and after the procedure to decrease my risk of side effects, and what my options were in the area of anesthesia and pain management. My doctor felt that general anesthesia was better in my case, so I had him explain why, and asked about some things that were worrying me. That helped calm my nerves the day of, and made the healing quicker and trouble free.

This is a great site to visit to learn more about a face lift in Arlington Heights.
